1 You should contact with the agent who is specialist of the specific industry or occupation. The agent should be smart and positive person

2 The agent has connection of personnel. If your agent is different from 1, you should change the person or agency.

3 I don't earn any profit from such agency, but I recommend you Recruit Agency if you search for job in Japan. Of course most important thing is individual and not company.

Selection criteria of your agent

If your master plan is clear, they will find prodigious list of job offers. You can judge is he/she good or not easily. If your situation doesn't get better even you change your agent, you should do a bit of contrivance to your master plan.

A female student told me after summer seminar for middle school students was done.
She was going to take high school entrance exam 
I taught Math for them at tutoring school. 
I already decided I would quit the job.

"Now I remembered I wanted to be a teacher" 
I was guided by my old dream and be hired tutoring school. 
After that, I studied about teaching materials, make notes of class for teaching, 
I took lecture of teaching on holidays and  I posted the direct mail of the school on each house. 

I had no experience of teaching and I wasn't good at teaching, students showed a bad attitude. 
I didn't want such kid make light of me, made teaching materials and exercised for teaching without sparing time for sleep. Sometimes my sleeping hours was less than 3.

A year ago, It was decided I quit the job. 
"Well, it is my last time for teach. I should relax" 
So I reduced explanations of question dramatically, I slept enough time, and I taught them leisurely. 
Then, students react was changed. 
"Mr isso, I got the answer, too. Teach us more" 
I tried as hard as I could. 
Then I eased up.
"Why?"
They solved the question.

In past, I red news article about a Chinese tourist's impressions of Japan.

What I want to tell you is  "Recession is just a word and it doesn't exist in practice."
If you live in Japan, it is obvious that you are richer than you expected. When you look for some information magazines about career or part-time job, you will find a lot of job offer. If you go to public employment security office, public servant help you to find employment. I believe it is not only me who think we have a chance to earn wealth. Just keep going.

2 Evaluation from others does nothing to do with your ideal
3 Just focus on now. The prediction from others about your future never comes.
4 Past success and failure does nothing to do for your present.

The last night of Luang Phabang, 10 drivers of auto rickshaw were talking about how to help me in front of airport. When you leave a Laos, you need 10 dollars bill. But I had only 10,000 yen and ticket for Laos. The airplane was preparing for departure. I yelled in English "I have no dollar! I have yen". Then a driver told me to"Come" so I sat his rickshaw and it started moving. "Go Go Go Go" Fortunately, I exchanged my yen to 10 dollar bill and I came back to airport. I thank him so much, and I gave him 10 dollars and rest of the tickets I had. He looked so happy and he said something "month" and "live". Maybe 10 dollar bill was a large sum of money for the driver I guess. I hoped so.

While the meeting I was inclined to watch his Afro hairstyle. 

The guy sat next to the Englishmen was a man who got introduced me by my friend. 

I remembered that he had experience of participate the show of fire dance in Hawaii. 

Englishman's Afro hairstyle and fire dance. 

I was getting confused he is actually Englishman or not. 

I couldn't remember what we had talked. 

I only memorized Afro hairstyle, fire dance, Caribbean Sea and what else?

Please follow the process. The name of company, the sort of occupation, worthwhile job or not is not your first priority.

There are 2 reasons for this.

Put your idealized image into concrete shape and do your best with things that are in front of your eyes.

It is not applying for the job from the list of companies your agent brings which seem possible to you to be hired.

Your best chance never comes before you find out who you are, what is your ideal, what do you think, and what do you do.

Common sense you believed is just an illusion. Eliminate the trap of assumption which rules your brain.

“I want to work at that company. The building is glassy and it is so closed to *Roppongi” It was my reason for applying. “A is very famous” or “B is trading company”. To a greater or lesser degree, do you search new hiring job for such reason? 

*Roppongi is the name of place. It is famous as area of rich people live and many active night clubs.

I guess some of you are finding job because your parents worried about you or you take care of your partner or child. Even it is a most important reason, I wonder about some of your reason of finding job is similar to mine. For example “Receptionist is cute” or “Building of the company is tall” or etc…

Can you really say it is different from mine?

Look on something from a biased viewpoint

“Excellence”, “leading company”, “popular company” and etc… These kind of subjective impression and concept interrupt your thoughts. There are people who “think and act independently” but not “excellent”. A lot of people belong to major firm, but salary is different story. In fact, there are so many small enterprises whose employee’s annual income is more 1 million yen than major firm’s employee’s salary.

The facts what I found later about the company.

1 There are so many unknown companies that annual income of employee is high.

2 If the company is steady and core business is “B-to-B”, it is good in general.

3 Famous companies aren’t as good as you expected.

4 If you are hired of fresh graduates, you should work hard. If you joined a company mid-way you would be comfortably off.

5 The companies of ranking by seniority have a good atmosphere generally.

6 Employee who has vitality quit the job if they work at 5

7 The Ranking of popular company is totally fallacious.

The thing I can do 

In the last 17 years, total amount of the companies I worked for is 6, average job tenure for each company is 2 years and 8 months, shortest period was 2 weeks and longest was 9 years for last company.

What I want to tell you is, even you didn’t think deeply or you have no experience or interest about job hunting, you can change everything and put into practice.

Office worker, no job, part-time job, temporary employee, and office worker again.

Contract and live changed so rapidly and I found that, it isn’t important minor detail about my position.

The important thing is “what are you going to do”. You should never be drawn into a whirlpool of competition. You shouldn’t waste your time of being worthless jealous, envy, inferiority complex or criticize to someone. The thing you should do is focus on the things at your hand.

You try to change your career on various conditions and for some reasons. What do people around you say about your determination? “It’s too early”. “You should do it at any cost”, “Now is your chance”. In my case “Get job and start working quickly”

Fail as a human being

In the first place, why we Japanese have to read a *Quarterly Journal, ask job opening-to application ratio and study how to investigate the corporate earnings?  I’m also wondering why we study how to write curricula vitae and practice for the job interview. So I suspect excellence job seekers don’t do such troublesome activities.

*Quarterly Journal （Shiki-Ho 四季報）is the name of book. Over 5000 companies information in Japan are written on the book.

I guess some of you are confusing because of researching the companies and have job interview one after another. Are we really so bad?

It is opposite

To come right to the point, “The thing you should do is opposite” I found this conclusion during I was looking for a job. This conclusion is common to all business. So it is very important things and I want you to think carefully about this.

1 "Revers the order" You have things to do before sending job application, writing curricula vitae, and preparing job interview. 

2 “Direction is opposite” Don’t look at outside and make a comparison between you and others. Look at inside and reflect on yourself.

3 “Position is opposite” It is always seller’s market. If you believe it is buyer’s market, employer beat you down price.

One action for today

Define your ideal condition in detail

Income, occupation category, working hours, vacation, firm size, and etc… Have fun to define.

Try to job-change by phone call.

“Where is Quarterly Journal?” When I was 29, I practically forced to looking for a new job. I didn’t have an experience of job hunting for big businesses when I was university student. So I didn’t know the difference of acting between job hunting and looking for a new job.

Not even had PC. I bought Quarterly Journal and I turned the page. I dialed the company which is written on the journal.  “Hello, I want you to hire me” I called 30 companies, and they replied “Read the recruitment information, please”. Of course no company hired me. I did this whole day, and then, I realized that. There is no company would answer “Please come here to have an interview” when they got only phone call.
